In this trip you’ll mix the hiking opportunities with Moldavian traditions and you’ll have the opportunity to see the most beautiful cultural sites of Romania – the painted monasteries from Bucovina part of the world heritage and the UNESCO patrimony.

1 ^st Day

Discover baroque Transylvania

Included highlights:

Arrival to Cluj. At the airport/bus station you will meet your local guide and driver.
Transfer to the hotel and check-in.
Lunch.
If time permits we will have a walking city tour of Cluj Napoca, the only baroque city in Romania and the former capital of Transylvania.
Visit St. Michael Cathedral,
the Orthodox Cathedral
the Memorial House of Matei Corvin, where the most important Hungarian King, was born as well as other interesting places.

2 ^nd Day

Discovering Bukovina

Included highlights:

Departure to Moldova - the heart of Romanian Orthodoxy.
Pass through Maramures, one of the most traditional regions in Romania.
See different wooden churches (such as those from Surdesti, Birsana)
Have a typical Maramures lunch in a local family’s house.
Drive along the Bistrita River, admiring painted houses with geometric motives.
Arrival at Vama, (in the heart of Bucovina) where we’ll stay for the following days.
The first short sightseeing tour of the village.

3 ^rd Day

Painted Monasteries

Included highlights:

Depart to the Moldovita monastery where we’ll meet a nun who will explain us all about the paintings of the orthodox world, specifically those from the Bucovina area.
Next visit - Sucevita monastery.
Lunch will be served near the monastery in a picturesque place.
Visit the famous ceramic center from Marginea and return to our host.
Special dinner together with the family.

4 ^th Day

Light day

Included highlights:

Visit a sheepfold by carriage.
Have a lunch that you will never forget.
Afternoon free for activities: badminton, football, volleyball and other games. A very light dinner will help us have a good night.

5 ^th Day

Hardworking day

Included highlights:

Walk in the Rarau Mountains, this means we will cover the first 20 km of the road by bus and then hike to the Rarau chalet. The hiking part takes about 3 to 4 hours.
Lunch at the chalet
Return late in the afternoon to our host.
In this evening we will learn how to paint Easter eggs. It will be a unique experience.

6 ^th Day

Cultural bomb

Included highlights:

Visit Dragomirna Monastery
Walk for one hour to the lake and have a picnic there
Visit the bishop church from Suceava, the former capital of Moldavia
Visit Voronet and Humor monasteries

A small folk band sing and dance for you.

7 ^th Day

On Dracula's footsteps

Included highlights:

Departure to Cluj.
Drive through Borgo pass, the famous pass mentioned in Bram Stoker’s book “Dracula“
Lunch at Dracula Motel /or “Coroana de Aur” in Bistrita, also mentioned in the book.
Arrival in Cluj and overnight in the same 4* Hotel as in the first day.
Farewell dinner.

Dear Victoria,

I personally want to thank you for such a great trip through these beautiful places. I enjoyed seeing the changes and modernization of Romania but I found that Moldova has a special charm and I enjoyed the atmosphere and the people.
